Aultmore 12 Year Old Review

The Aultmore 12yr video review is on this YouTube link. Aultmore 12yr is released domestic and travel retail and the bottle I picked up was from The Whisky Exchange in Covent Garden.

Tasting Notes:
Colour: Pale Straw
Nose:  Very refreshing, a slight citrus note plus hints of sweet green pears (the one that comes to mind is a very ripe soft conference pear) creaminess and apple crumble and with a couple drops of water [3 drops] brings out a sweet custard.
Palate: Its very soft and light but does makes its presence known with the 46% abv giving a spicy pungent welcome. Then it grows into a waxy oily texture, lemon zest, reminds me of a custard apple with a mouth warming spice.
Finish: Medium to full finish, as the creaminess seems to linger around for a while, spice with a citrus tang around the sides and the back of the palate. with water [3 drops] less spice is found all together and more sweetness.

Comments: This is the first Aultmore expression that I am trying before the 21yr which I have a bottle of and finding it light and youthful with bold fruitiness. One thing I do like about it that it is natural colour and non chill filtered which is something I really enjoy. With this you can use a drop or two of water to make it more palatable and reduce the spice in the beginning.
